On April 29 the Steel Valley Trail Council with the support of the Three Rivers Birding Club is sponsoring a bicycle ride on the Great Allegheny Passage Trail (GAP Trail) to celebrate the success of the raptors that nested on the trail in 2016.
The ride will include a visit to:

  • the osprey nest just past Kennywood
  •  the Hays bald eagle nest.
  • the great horned owl nest (which is inactive this year)
  • two red tail hawk nests
  • a rescued live owl from the Animal Rescue League Shelter and Wildlife Center

Experienced Three River Bird Club members will be at the various raptor nest sites and most sites will have scopes available for close up viewing of the nest sites and any raptors that might be present.

All proceeds from the ride help the Steel Valley Trail maintain this section of the Great Allegheny Passage. Click here for more information and online registration. Online registration ends April 25.
